Default Healing the Hospital Hierarchy

A hospital is, by its nature, the scene of constant life-or-death situations. It?s the work we nurses, doctors and other health professionals do; we chose it. The threat of harm can jazz you up or bring you down, but what it should demand, always, is the highest possible level of professionalism. Who?s at risk when that doesn?t occur?

We are all placed at risk although first and foremost the patients are the ones that ultimately suffers but we as health care professionals suffer too.

Yup it is a lose lose situation.

We have to be professional at all times and challenge MD's when decisions are made that we know maybe injurious to the patient. Advocate for the patient that may not fully understand what is happening at that particular time.

Thankfully I have worn big shoulders and have MD's grouch at me but let me tell ya one thing, I never took it personally but just stood my ground and in the end the MD has been the one to come back and apologize.

Nurses are given a job to do and a voice to go along with it. Document concisely and acurately that is going to save your butt in any given situation!
