Default Wonder if I need to re-think my approach

I might still land a hospice job just by sending out resumes, but I wonder if that's really the best approach.

I could do part-time hospice, but I don't see many of those positions and I don't think I have the energy to do that on top of my regular job.

I could volunteer for hospice too, would be easier than PRN work.

But I've been thinking, what I really would like to do is work more on the ideas side of things. I like how hospice brings together the science of medicine with philosophical and theological approaches. I'd like to write and read and give presentations and do research about the dying process, how people reach the decision to go to hospice, how hospice fits in our present healthcare system and how it could play a greater role.

So I've been wondering how I might start doing some of that now. I figure if you want to end up someplace you probably want to start off on that path early on.

I would think working prn would just be the same as volunteering except you'd get paid. Can you drop your hours at the job you are doing now? If that is possible, you could then do hospice or HH either part time or per diem.

What about 2 part time jobs instead of a full time? You have a great mind there JoeN. and I hope you are able to do that research like you described.

Joe I like how you are thinking about Hospice.

Hubster is actually going to do his research paper on a topic close to his heart about Hospice and the dying patient.

I believe you will end up with a Hospice job as I believe you have a Hospice Heart my friend. I do not believe you are going about this any different than you should but certainly read all you can about hospice, the dying process etc to enable you to best answer those questions that are tossed your way. Use of the IDT to enable great patient outcomes in reaching their goals. Holistic approach team nursing!

Remember you also have great resources on JUN mate.
