Default Nursing in a Tough Economy

In the nursing profession, there are so many types of jobs in a variety of places, that you don't have to settle for a work environment that you don't love. Until now.

I confess: I've kind of done a 180 in the area of job satisfaction, at least for the time being. I have a husband, many friends, husbands of friends, friends of friends who are out of work right now, that I'm singing a different tune.

Though I am hopeful the economy will turn around sometime in the near future, I hesitate advising anyone to give up gainful employment in hopes of finding something they like better. Now working a job you don't love is not the worst thing in the world.

There are a lot of people in this world who are grateful to do ANY type of work to earn a very small amount of money in order to feed their families. There are people who have worked a job they hated their whole lives to provide a comfortable home for those they love.

I have been very fortunate in my life to have had many jobs I loved but times are changing, and I need to be prepared to suck it up if that's what it takes to put food on the table.

I'm right there with you guys...I like my job most days. On the more challenging days, I remind myself of the blessings in my life, and also how lucky I am to even have a job...even if it makes me crazy at times...

I really love my job, it is very rewarding. But at times I do not feel that I am getting the experience I need to further my education. So at times I do want to look for another job and other don't want to because I have the flexability to go back to school.

I am grateful to have a job too - right now it's a little higher stress than I thought was normal in the department, because of low staffing (which is chronic) I will keep on keeping on for now. I owe them 2 years when I am done.

What I hate is that you have to take all the crap that is dished out, if you don't like something you can leave, makes you feel disposable.

And yes I am very grateful to have a nursing position.
