Default Heart Failure Tidbits

Common types of medications used to treat heart failure include:

Cardiac meds may have some totally serious interactions with herbal supplements such as ginkgo biloba, St. John’s wort, and garlic. Also be alert to food interactions. That is big on nursing tests and a biggie when doing patient teaching.
GrnTea and EMTnurse like this.

Garlic? I've been taking that for more than 20 years as an immunity supplement. Thank God that the only heart issues I have is a slightly leaky aortic valve, benign pvcs, and some high blood pressure.

I really like this photo and the list of meds associated with it. I had CHF with Cardiomegaly accompanied by septicemia once. Yes indeed I was one sick cookie. with a central line in and on the vent. But thankfully, God helped me through it. That was 13 years ago, and other than being monitored by my PCP, being on o2 24/7, & in a motorized chair, I can say I am happy, content, and as healthy as I can for a decrepit individual who has been through many mills of serious illness.
