Default Applying to VA

I just saw a position in The next town over, VA. It is for Nursing Informatics.
I applied online. I only sent my resume.

Should I follow up with a call? The job is perfect and so close to my home.

I sure as heck would follow up with a phone call to ensure they got your resume, they will know you are interested that is for sure. I wish you the best of luck. x x

See if you can find it on USAJOBS and fill out an online app from there too.

Fingers crossed.

No, a resume is not going to cut it. Must apply to usajobs for at the opening. But first, you need to create an account. Must fill out the many mountains of forms and paperwork that are required. Once all that is done, you sit around and wait till they decide to call for an interview. The process can take a few weeks to months. Nothing is ever fast with the VA... unless you are the poor fool like me that owes them money... then they move fast....

No....Kylee's correct. HR won't even get you as a valid candidate if your online application is not complete for submission. That means everything that is asked for, including all forms.

I probably posted about this last October, when I was going through the process, but it took me the better part of a day to get everything done: downloading/printing; some forms online and some had be be completed by hand and then uploaded. Royal PITA.

Do the USAjobs thing, if you really want it! While a call to HR at the facility won't hurt, they'll tell you to apply through USAjobs, and to have everything complete.

Good luck!

One other note: I think I would have remembered this, but you aren't a Veteran, are you? At my facility, there's always an eye out for a Veteran application....and if someone 'inside' were to offer a resume to HR, it WILL get looked at. If there's an interest, still have the 100 hoops to jump through, but it's a small 'in'.

No that just means they are letting employees bid first. If no one bids or if they will open it back up to the general public.
