Default Searching for Nurse Friends who are HH/Deaf

Hi
I am new. Glad I got the courage and time to join this great forum. I want your help to reach out to other deaf and hard of hearing nurses. I have so much to share but no one to share it with. I want to hear back from you. Wherever you are on the globe, there are things only those with a disability would understand. Have a wonderful day and connect soon.

Hi, Donna, and welcome to JUN! I don't fit the bill on your request in that my hearing is WNL, but still wanted to welcome you aboard :-)

It's a great group of people!

Hi Donna and welcome to JUN. I am not hearing impaired but I would love to learn more about how you overcome it in nursing. I did ( years ago ) work with a hearing impaired nurse. She had some hearing so she used a special stethoscope for her assessments. She was awesome to work with. What area of nursing do you work in currently? How long have you been a nurse?

Again, welcome.

Welcome to JUN! We're glad you're here.

I'm experiencing normal age-related hearing loss, not too bad yet, so I don't meet your criterion. But I do see patients who have various forms of hearing loss in my life care planning practice and welcome any insights.

For anyone who's interested there are some good articles on cochlear implants in the Summer 2012 JNLCP (and other nifty stuff). Go to American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners and follow the links to the Journal archives. Download the PDF for free.
